Jonathon Bi

Studied philosophy and computer science at Columbia after formative training in mathematics and the Canadian Olympiad. Co-founded Opto Investments in 2020 and served on the founding team until 2024. Deeply engaged in the Great Books tradition, with a primary focus on continental philosophy, recognition theory, and thinkers exploring sociality and rationality—especially Plato, Augustine, Hume, Hegel, Rousseau, Nietzsche, and Girard. Experienced practitioner of meditation trained in Tibetan traditions, with interests spanning contemplation, philosophy of technology, and the integration (or tension) between active and contemplative life.
